Service Alternatives Training Catalog



This class is designed to meet the needs of a person with no medical background in obtaining skills that can be used to save another person’s life during breathing and cardiac emergencies. This class provides information about how to recognize emergencies and how to assess both conscious and unconscious victims. You will have hands-on practice in performing skills used to care for victims of heart attacks, choking, and other breathing emergencies. This class can be customized to meet the needs of each individual, focusing on adults, children, and/or infants. This class can also be combined with First Aid for a more comprehensive learning experience. Upon successful completion of the class, you will receive an American Red Cross certification card good for one year.


Individuals seeking certification for employment as well as those seeking personal growth.

Hours: 3 ½ - 7 ½ hours depending on segments taught

  • Preventing disease transmission
  • When to call 911
  • Moving an ill or injured person
  • Washing hands and removing gloves
  • Checking a conscious person
  • Checking an unconscious person
  • Conscious choking
  • Rescue breathing
  • Signals of a heart attack
  • CPR
  • Unconscious choking
