Dealing with Domestic Violence


Description:

This training provides participants with an overview of most common dynamics involved in domestic violence (DV) and would benefit anyone who would like to gain a better understanding of this phenomenon. The training begins with a discussion about what constitutes DV, including specific ways in which it may be manifested using the concept of the Power and Control Wheel. You will examine causes of DV and common perpetrator and victim characteristics. Special emphasis is placed on illuminating short- and long-term effects of DV on children. Effective intervention strategies are also discussed. Throughout the training, some common myths surrounding DV are dispelled.

Anyone who might come in contact—professionally or as a lay person—with domestic violence situations.
