Positive Behavior Support


Description:

Anyone who has ever wanted to facilitate a change in their own or another person's behavior would benefit from this training. The Positive Behavior Support training focuses on the holistic cycle of behavior change, starting with a thorough assessment of environmental contributors and functions of behavior, to selecting and implementing behavior change strategies, to follow up assessment.

Participants will learn how to facilitate the four types of behavior change: increasing a desirable behavior, decreasing an undesirable behavior, developing a new behavior, and changing conditions under which a behavior occurs. Specific behavior change strategies reviewed in this training are those which have been utilized with great success by applied behavior analysts world-wide.

Audience:

Professionals or lay persons who are in the position of facilitating behavior changes in others or whoever would like to learn effective ways of changing their own behavior.

Hours: 4 to 14 hours, depending on your organization's needs and participants level of knowledge/experience

Training at SA: $150 per individual

Host an Onsite Training: $1250 for up to 20 individuals

Training Objectives:

In this training, you will first learn the philosophical underpinnings of applied behavior analysis and positive behaviors support. You will gain skills in the following areas:

  • how to assess and understand external and internal impetuses for behavior,
  • how to change behavior in the desired direction—increase, decrease/eliminate, develop, change time and place when it occurs—by using the least invasive yet most effective techniques,
  • how to assess whether the selected intervention is working as intended, and
  • how to achieve sustainable behavior change.
