Training Specialist

I've been training since: 2011

I've been with SA since: 2010

In 2010 I graduated from college with a degree in Education/Special Education. While looking for work I stumbled upon Service Alternatives and looked at the job description for an Employment Specialist where I would be helping adults with disabilities figure out what they would like to do for work, help with their growth in specific employment skills then help them find work and support them in that field/job. Right away I thought to myself “This job is perfect for me” since I was already passionate about teaching and passionate about working with individuals with disabilities. After about a year in, I became a part time Trainer with another division, then a year from there became a fulltime Training Specialist with a specialty in 2 of SA’s divisions being Children Family Services and Adult Supported Living.

I enjoy spending time with my wife, family, and friends. I also enjoy writing stories, writing/playing music, comics, annually attending Emerald City Comicon, and I am a diehard Redsox fan.

What does training mean to me?

Never stop learning, which is something that I strongly believe. As a training specialist I am given the opportunity to encourage and guide the educational growth of others within and outside Service Alternatives. I love getting to play a part in people’s lives to help them learn new skills that they can then apply in their work settings and personal lives.
