Operational Training Service Manager

I've been training since: 2005

I've been with SA since: 2008

I have had the opportunity to do several positions in the scope of social services.  When I first graduated from college I worked with medically fragile and elderly adults with mental illness.  I learned so much!  After that I worked in supported employment for almost 8 years.  I supported all kinds of people in finding out what jobs they would like and be good at, learning how to find a job, landing the job, and succeeding with long-term vocational goals.  I then worked in the school system for 3 years, as a behavior specialist and mental health counselor.  Eventually I became a family counselor, but my real love is teaching and training, which is why I became a trainer at Service Alternatives.  I am really excited about encouraging people to strive for excellence, and I do my best to teach the information and skills that will make that possible.

  • I love home karaoke!
  • I’m from Michigan, but I have lived in Washington since the year 2000.  I love the people here and all the fun things to do, but I could use a little bit more sun.
  • I’ve been married since 2005.  I have one kitty cat and two daughters.
  • I love reading!  I read all kinds of books, but my favorite books are the Harry Potter series.  I’ve read all of them at least 3 times!

What does training mean to me?

I love trainings! I like taking trainings, giving trainings, and planning trainings! Trainings are a chance for adults to share their experiences, learn new things, and gain access to information that they can apply right away. The best kind of trainings also give us a chance to have fun while we learn, so I try to incorporate that into my training style.
